Arthur Weiss is our Chairman of the Board of Directors and an attorney in our Tax practice group, working closely with our Mergers & Acquisitions, Estate & Wealth Planning, Real Estate, Finance and Emerging & Growth Business practice groups to provide creative and strategic solutions to the most sophisticated legal issues. He represents a wide range of public and private businesses (including family offices) spanning numerous industries in connection with their merger and acquisition, corporate finance, business planning and corporate governance matters. Using his extensive knowledge of federal, state and local taxation law, he approaches each transaction with a view to achieving the client’s business objectives in the most economic and tax efficient manner. In addition, he has significant experience in all aspects of the structuring and financing of, and buying and selling interests in, REITs. He is a director of several closely-held companies in the real estate, infrastructure and technology industries, as well as a director of Sun Communities, Inc. (NYSE:SUI) and TCF Financial Corporation (NASDAQ Global Select:TCF). He has also held leadership roles in a number of nonprofit and business organizations, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (where he served on the executive committee and as its Executive Vice President) and the Jewish Federation & United Jewish Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit (where he served as Co-Chairman of the Best Business Practice Committee and is currently a member of the Investment Committee).
