Scott R. Torpey

Scott R. Torpey is a partner in the Southfield office of Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss. He is a member of the Firm's Litigation Practice Group, specializing in areas of complex litigation, including aviation accidents/incidents, commercial transactions and product liability. Scott maintains a national litigation practice, representing airlines, manufacturers, owners/operators and insurance carriers throughout the country on a regular basis.

A frequent author and lecturer, Scott has published numerous local and national articles and papers and presented seminars on product liability, aviation and commercial law topics. Recent seminars presented include a training seminar addressing "the effects of Plaintiff's networking on product liability litigation and available countermeasures", "developing an effective litigation management plan for your company", "product liability litigation training - basic concepts and guidelines", and the "continued viability of the government contractor defense in light of the single process initiative". All were presented for major manufacturing corporations in the United States and Asia.

Scott earned his Bachelor's degree from Wayne State University and is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where he served as the managing editor of the Corporate, Finance and Business Law Journal, as well as the managing editor of the Michigan Tax Law Journal.
