David S. McDaniel

David S. McDaniel is a partner in the Ann Arbor office of Jaffe,Raitt, Heuer & Weiss, P.C. He is a member of the Firm’s Intellectual Property, Litigation and Privacy and Datasecurity Practice Groups, where he specializes in litigating copyright, trademark, trade secret and other intellectual property matters. David’s practice also includes litigation of general commercial disputes. David has represented individual and corporate clients across a wide variety of business segments, including automotive, alternative energy, entertainment, software, real estate, publishing, construction and finance, in federal and state courts throughout the county, as well as in arbitration proceedings. His experience also includes representation of clients in matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. David also counsels clients in non-litigation matters, including licensing of intellectual property and contract drafting, review and negotiation.

Before joining the Firm, David clerked for the Honorable Virginia M. Morgan, Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan. He earned a degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University. David graduated magna cum laude from Wayne State University Law School, where he was an editor for the Wayne Law Review and worked as a student attorney at the Wayne County Neighborhood Legal Service’s Free Legal Aid Clinic.

In his spare time, David enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, riding his sportbike, mountain biking, playing hockey and playing guitar and singing for the Ann Arbor-based band The Glen Levens. David formerly served as a youth coach in the Ann Arbor Amateur Hockey Association.
